The Zaporizhia regional administration denounced on Thursday that Russian troops are transferring personnel and military equipment from the Crimea region to Zaporizhia, taken by Russian forces as part of the offensive launched on February 24.

"From the Crimean peninsula, the Russian Federation is transferring its forces, not only ground troops, but also air and naval components," he denounced in a message on his official Telegram profile, as reported by the Unian news agency. .

Specifically, a convoy of military equipment passed through Melitopol from Crimea, as well as around 20 trucks and 20 fire-fighting installations. "All this shows that Russia will try to keep the occupied territories under her control," he said, according to various Ukrainian media.

For his part, the hetman of the Zaporizhia region, Sergei Yurchenko, has indicated that Cossack squads have been formed in the "liberated" cities and towns to "protect humanitarian convoys, distribute food packages and other aid to the population" , according to the TASS news agency.

"In all cities, in Berdyansk, Energodar, Melitopol, Primorsk, Kirillovka, Akimovka, with the support of the authorities, squads of Cossacks have been formed who participate in the protection of public order," he said, according to the aforementioned agency.
