Yolanda Díaz summons to reach a "fair" agreement for the CGPJ but avoids talking about names, such as Rosell

Podemos has warned the PSOE that it will not support a pact that excludes the current Government delegate against gender violence

MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, has summoned the PP to reach an agreement for the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) that is "fair" although she has avoided referring to the names of possible candidates, as in the case of the Government delegate against gender violence, Victoria Rosell.

Speaking to the media after attending the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Asociación Mensajeros de la Paz. and questioned about whether there is a veto against Rosell in this negotiation and if this would affect an agreement, Díaz has made no specific mention of this profile and has launched a generic call to the PP to respect the institutions and achieve an agreement in adequate terms to replace to the current CGPJ.

This morning from Podemos they have warned that they will not support an agreement between PSOE and PP that excludes the judge and former deputy of United We Can in Congress, understanding that it would be a "bipartisan" distribution of the governing body of the judges in addition to a veto to an applicant who is an excellent magistrate.

They also argue that he suffered a "mafia persecution" to ruin by former judge Salvador Alba who recently entered prison for this "lawfare" case.

Meanwhile, Díaz has not spoken in these terms, although he has reproached the PP for having "very serious" conduct for almost four years without renewing the CGPJ, especially when the judges are "hugely concerned" about this situation, as he confirmed yesterday during a meeting with magistrates of the social jurisdiction.

"The institutions belong to the citizens, not to the parties. The time has come to put an end to this (the blockade) and for the PP to come out of its mistake. From the Government we work for an agreement but I sincerely believe that the agreement has to be fair and that is what the citizens and the protagonists themselves, who are the judges, ask of us", he concluded.

According to sources from the confederal space, the name of Rosell arouses great support in United We Can and they consider that she is perfectly suitable for the position, since she has a highly valued profile in progressive circles.

A position that was recently made clear by the leader of En Comú Podem, Jaume Asens, when he emphasized that he "deserved to be there" (in the Judiciary) and that he was the "favorite candidate".

However, other voices in the confluence emphasize that this support for Rosell is clear but that his profile entails an important difficulty in the framework of the negotiation, given that he now holds an executive position and in the conversations between the Government and the PP speaking of a series of depoliticization requirements that complicate Rosell's option.

From the minority partner of the Executive they emphasize that the Government delegate against gender violence is a possibility that is on the table when it comes to proposing, but there are also other options that they would be willing to support.

Within the coalition, the frequent contacts between PSOE and United We Can are assumed by the head of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, and the deputy spokesman for the confederal group and deputy for IU, Enrique Santiago.
