Yolanda Díaz, on the renewal of the CGPJ: "It is being negotiated and they are not going to have anything from me but discretion"

It is also urgent to address the relays in the TC and definitively approve the Trans Law

MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The second vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, has assured that negotiations continue on the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and that for her part there will be "nothing but discretion".

He has also stressed that it is "urgent" to proceed with the election of new members of the Constitutional Court (TC), given that there is a sector of the court of guarantees that must be replaced.

This was stated during his participation in the conference 'Labor reform and the future of the labor market' organized by the APIE and questioned about the contacts on the replacement of members with an expired mandate in the governing body of the judges.

Precisely this morning the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, has assured that Podemos will not "tolerate" that the PP conditions the renewal of the CGPJ to the exclusion of the Government delegate against gender violence, Victoria Rosell, and that they will defend " until the last consequences" that she is the "best candidate" to enter this body.

"It is being negotiated and they are not going to have anything more from me than discretion," Diaz has settled, to emphasize that as a jurist the fact that the institution has not been renewed for four years is "extremely serious."

Moreover, he pointed out that there is an urgent need in Spain for institutional support in judicial matters that "never" should have been abandoned and has criticized that the attitude of the PP, of blocking the replacement in the CGPJ, was "profoundly incorrect".

Finally, Díaz has indicated that it is "urgent" to approve the Trans Law, just one day after the PSOE has requested an extension of one more week in the term to present amendments to the regulations.

While and in statements to the media during his attendance at the regional conference 'Women for the Mediterranean', organized by the Union for the Mediterranean, Montero has highlighted that he finds it "intolerable" and "unaffordable" for democracy that the condition that put the popular ones to unlock the governing body of the judges is to "execute a political revenge" against Rosell.

"Victoria Rosell represents the best of democracy and political regeneration and we are going to defend her until the last consequences, that she is the best candidate for the CGPJ", has sentenced the Minister of Equality, who joins various voices from the leadership of Podemos that They put pressure on him to enter the list of candidates.

Yesterday, the spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, insisted on the demand that the Government delegate against gender violence be part of the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and launched that "no progressive can support" the "ad hoc veto" proposed by the PP to his figure.

He also asserted that there is "unanimity" within United We Can that the PP's veto of Rosell is a "political infamy" and that the collective bet is that in that negotiation to try not to exercise it, since its inclusion is a guarantee of " regeneration" in the institution.

The usual contacts within the coalition on the CGPJ are maintained by the head of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, and the deputy spokesman for the confederal group and representative of the IU, Enrique Santiago. Within the confederal space, the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, has called several meetings with representatives of the parties to analyze the situation of the negotiation.

All the branches of United We Can support the possibility of Rosell being a candidate, as the president of the parliamentary group Jaume Asens did last week, although Díaz and IU have advocated not publicizing names and focusing that discussion discreetly on the negotiating field. . Meanwhile, Podemos publicly presses for her to be a formal candidate with the warning to get out of that pact.

However, United We Can sources have stressed that Rosell is a possibility that is on the table but there are also other profiles that would have the endorsement of the confederal space. And it is that there are voices that recognize that the candidacy of the Government delegate against gender violence raises complications due to the requirement to opt for profiles that are not linked to political activity.
