We can accuse the PSOE of "betrayal" of the feminist movement, but they will not break the coalition

He makes a "last call" to his partner to reach an agreement and prevent him from joining PP and Vox in the "shame vote"

Podemos has accused the PSOE of "betrayal" of the feminist movement and of not wanting to negotiate the reform of the Law 'only yes is yes', although he makes a last call for the agreement to prevent his partner from leading the "vote of shame" to the add their votes with PP and Vox to carry out their unilateral proposal to change the regulations.

However, he has made it clear that even if this alliance of the PSOE with the forces of the right finally took place, they are not going to break the coalition and the Executive is going to maintain itself because there is still a legislative agenda that must advance. In fact, he has reasoned that this divergence reinforces the need for his presence in the Government.

This was stated this Monday at a press conference by the state co-spokeswoman for the purple formation, Alejandra Jacinto, who has used a very critical tone with the Socialists on the eve of the vote that will take place tomorrow in Congress on the consideration of the PSOE bill to redefine this law, which promoted this formation after cases of reduced sentences for sexual offenders.

Podemos already advanced last Friday that if there is no agreement with the Ministry of Equality, led by Irene Montero, the parliamentary group will vote against processing the reform and today Jacinto has insisted that the Socialists' proposal is a "regression ", because it means going back to the Criminal Code of the "shameful" initial sentence of the case 'La manada' and does not shield consent as the "heart" of the Law "only if it is yes".

During her appearance, the co-spokeswoman for the purple party has called the attitude of the PSOE "regrettable" and has directly blamed them for joining the "reaction" against this regulation, yielding to "pressure" from the right to return to the previous Penal Code .

Therefore, Jacinto has proclaimed that protecting consent as the center of the Law 'only yes is yes' is a "red line" for Podemos, since it is a key element of the coalition agreement, given that it is an achievement of the feminist movement, and He has demanded that the Socialists "reconsider", negotiate, abide by the postulates defended by the parliamentary partners and not align themselves with PP and Vox, which he has labeled as clearly "anti-feminist" parties.

What's more, he has admitted that "it is hard for him to believe" and it is "inconceivable" for him that the PSOE would vote the same as these formations and has raised the question of whether the socialist bench will join the celebration of returning to the criminal framework of 'La manada' , as he predicts that the two main opposition parties will cheer.

Asked if Podemos would consider the negotiation closed in the event that the initiative exceeds the vote with the votes of PP and Vox, as they fear, or there would still be room for a future pact, Jacinto has not insisted on making this last appeal for that scenario does not occur.

Within the formation they are not very optimistic that in the process of amendments there will be options for a pact if the alliance with the right is finally given and they predict that, if they continue in this attitude, this will take its toll on the Socialists.

On the other hand, Jacinto has insisted that changes to the norm supported by PP and Vox is a "serious" issue and highlights that the usual allies of the Government, the progressive and "feminist" majority of the chamber, are aligned with his postulates.

And it is that he has stressed that consent as a central part of the law represents progress because it increases the protection of women against sexual assault.

THE PARITY LAW IS POSITIVE BUT DOES NOT HIDE THE PSOE'S MISTAKE

In any case, he has insisted that the coalition is not going to break, something that his adversaries would be happy about, and that precisely this controversy over the Law 'only if it is yes' justifies the need for his presence in the Executive.

In fact, he has defended that Equality has not stopped negotiating during these months to try to reach a reform agreement, which maintains consent as the central piece of the text, and hopes that before the vote they return to the "unanimous position" of the partners of investiture.

Finally, and regarding the parity law announced over the weekend by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, he has conceded that anything that means advancing in equality is positive, but it does not make them lose perspective of the setback that changing the 'yes is yes' with the votes of the PP and return to the "Penal Code of La Manada'".
