Vox asks the Government for explanations for the collision of two ships in Gibraltar

MADRID, 30 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Vox parliamentary group has registered a battery of questions in Congress asking the Government for explanations for the collision of two ships in the Bay of Algeciras, off Gibraltar.

In the accident, a bulk carrier flagged in Tovalu and loaded with steel bars has collided with another ship, the Adam LNG, which is a methane tanker flagged in the Marshall Islands.

The national deputy of Vox for Cádiz, the retired general Agustín Rosety, has traveled to Algeciras, and has wanted to make it clear that the issues that affect Gibraltar "are a national issue". "That sea is Spanish territorial sea, but the British say that it is theirs and they do what they want. They have beached the ship there, and the contamination that our coasts may suffer will be suffered by the Spanish," he denounced.

Vox appreciates "risk of spills" given the state of one of the ships and with its questions asks to know what measures the Government plans to adopt to avoid damage to the marine environment and what steps it has taken before the Gibraltarian or British authorities to demand responsibilities.
