Vodafone, Mediapro and the big consultants apply to manage the Madrid video game campus

MADRID, 7 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Vodafone, Deloitte, EY, PwC, Fandroid -the Mediapro company that manages the Professional Video Game League- and the parent company of Movistar Raiders are some of the companies that have shown their interest in managing the Madrid Video Game Campus, a project of 30 million euros to position the city at an international level.

The project, for which three Casa de Campo pavilions totaling more than 4,000 square meters will be used, aims to create, among other things, a video game museum in the city and a municipal eSports league, as well as attract investment from the sector and serve as a 'hub' for Spanish companies.

Vodafone will compete with Global Incubator and the consulting firm Typsa for the largest of the four lots, endowed with almost 14 million euros, for the design and management of the Development Center of the facilities, according to the tender consulted by Europa Press.

The operator will concur in a joint venture with the video game studio Gamera Nest and the marketing agency Origen UWW in a request that has been provisionally admitted, as is the case with Typsa, which concurs with the virtual reality company Magic Fennec.

This center should provide assistance services to support entrepreneurship in the sector and provide training programs and establish agreements with universities and companies. To do this, the center will have a program for companies in a 'pre-seed' state of at least 30 projects, which will be 'pre-incubated on campus' and another for more advanced companies of at least 20 companies with durations of six months.

Likewise, an auditorium with a capacity of between 20 and 100 people will be set up to monitor events, as well as the development of a space that houses the games of the municipal competition.

The center will have a video game development space and virtual reality, graphic design and 3D printing laboratories, as well as an application and a virtual campus to organize its activities.

The organization of this municipal league and other events includes the next lot of the award, valued at six million euros. The competition is expected to have at least ten teams and be multi-game.

Likewise, the winner of this lot must set up spaces for esports teams to train at its facilities, as well as training programs in this discipline.

Fandroid Entertainment, organizer of the Professional Video Game League (LVP) and dependent on Mediapro and a joint venture formed by the RacingSLU company and Team Randomk Esports, the parent company of Movistar Raiders, an esports team from which Telefónica has recently bought, has been presented to the lot 15% and secured to Movistar as the main sponsor until 2025.

Mediapro, through Mediaduccion, is also competing for the third lot, which will allocate 8.87 million euros to the dissemination of content and the creation of the video game museum.

The Catalan entity will compete for the award with U1ST Sports Marketing, a subsidiary of the sports agency YouFirst, which also works with figures from the esports and streaming sector such as the 'streamer Spursito, and Leisure and Education Activities.

The successful bidder must present a project for the realization of a Video Game Museum that the City Council hopes will generate "differential, innovative and disruptive" experiences.

"In principle, the museum will be born from the Pavilion of the Casa de Campo ICONA II, but it will be able to visit the different locations of the Video Game Campus and spread throughout the city," details the town hall in the statement, which slides the possibility that the museum have your space in events such as the Veranos de la Villa, the San Isidro festival or the Book Fair.

Finally, the final lot, valued at two million euros, includes the technical office, in charge of ensuring the proper execution of the project, as well as positioning Madrid as "one of the benchmarks for this industry both in Spain and internationally," according to the statement.

This lot has been the one that has received the most potential interested parties with six applicants, including the aforementioned Deloitte, EY and PwC, but also NTT Data (the former Everis), which has already been awarded a 19 million euro contract for digital transformation of the Madrid City Council this January, Atos and Ayming Spain.

All contracts have a duration of three years and may be extended by the local entity for two more.
