Villacís trusts in the resurgence of Ciudadanos after the refoundation process: "We are going to fight opportunism"

MADRID, 16 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputy mayor of Madrid and coordinator of the Team for the Refoundation of Citizens (Cs), Begoña Villacís, has assured that her formation is immersed in an "ideological rearmament" to fight for "the space of the center" and address issues "necessary for Spain and that other parties have given up doing" and thus "combat opportunism".

This has been stated in statements to the media from the party's national headquarters, just before facing the second day of listening to Cs, within the framework of a process of refounding the party that cannot be carried out, according to the deputy mayor, with its back to the base members.

The coordinator has defended that the refoundation process must be based on listening to the contributions of members and sympathizers, to which the party must be permeable. "It is a time to question everything. We have to take advantage of this situation that allows us and forces us to be brave," she said.

So far, the call has managed to bring together more than 1,000 people to participate in the resurgence of training. "We have seen a lot of people wanting to contribute to the project and to fight for this downtown space," he reaffirmed.

Villacís has opted to understand that Cs is a liberal party, a strategy that "may not be liked by everyone but it is necessary to be like that." "We have to raise uncomfortable truths that other parties have given up on it to please everyone. But that is only thinking about votes and not about Spain. The party that thinks about Spain is Cs and we are going to fight opportunism," he has sentenced.
