UP requests a meeting with the PSOE and parliamentary allies to address the "immediate unblocking" of the CGPJ and the TC

United We Can has requested an urgent meeting with the PSOE and the parliamentary allies of the Executive to discuss the "immediate unblocking" of the Constitutional Court (TC) and the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).

This was reported on Twitter by the spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, in relation to the decision of the guarantee court, which yesterday provisionally suspended the parliamentary process of the reform to unblock its renewal, at the request of an appeal presented by the PP.

For Echenique, the performance of the TC last night is "extremely serious" and shows that a "judicial power without democratic legitimacy has dealt a blow to the legislative power."

"We have asked the groups of the progressive and plurinational parliamentary majority for a meeting to discuss the immediate release of the CGPJ and the TC," he has shelled on networks.

The purples have already called on the PSOE on several occasions to reactivate the bill, along with the progressive parliamentary majority to reduce the election of new members of the Judiciary to an absolute majority, since this will overcome the blockade imposed by the PP.

Yesterday, the leader of Podemos and Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, denounced that the "political and judicial right" consumes "an unprecedented blow to democracy" with said paralysis of the reform.

Also in networks, he has stressed the need to "urgently" address the renewal of the CGPJ "kidnapped by the PP for 4 years." "We need to stop this unprecedented attack on democracy with more democracy. We ask the progressive and multinational majority for an urgent meeting," he insisted.

The leader of the IU and deputy spokesperson for United We Can in Congress, Enrique Santiago, has asked to act "firmly" in this regard, both through legislative initiatives and with resources before the courts and citizen mobilizations.

In fact, the confederal group has already opted to promote a bill to reform the TC and allow its renewal, with a view to throwing out the "entrenched magistrates" in the guarantee court and who have proven to be "ultra" judges.
