UP accuses the PSOE of "disloyal" for approving a billion for Defense "through the back door", although they will not break

He admits that the measure reached the commission of secretaries and where is UP but without political debate

MADRID, 5 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the parliamentary group of United We Can in Congress, Jaume Asens, has accused the PSOE of "disloyalty" with the forms used to bring to the approval of the Council of Ministers the extraordinary credit of 1,000 million for Defense, which he has described as "decree for war" and a "bizum" for the arms industry.

On the other hand, he has recognized that this proposal passed through the General Commission of Secretaries of State and Undersecretaries, which deals with the matters that come to the Council and in which they are present, although he has criticized that his partner in the Executive eluded the debate with the ministers their space, as well as with the groups of the investiture partner in Congress, opting to "approve through the back door" that increase in items for Defense.

At a press conference in the Lower House, Asens has been very harsh with the PSOE by reproaching him that the way used to promote this extraordinary credit for Defense "is not formal". And it is that although the final decision corresponds to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, he has opined that an issue of this depth requires at least an in-depth discussion with the ministers of United We Can, something that has not taken place.

Of course, he has ruled out that this internal clash puts the stability of the Executive at risk, where he calls for discrepancies to be naturalized and has highlighted that the confederal space is "comfortable" although he rejects this decision made by the PSOE.

"It is disloyalty to the coalition government, to Congress and to the majority of citizens, who according to the polls are against increasing military spending," the leader of En Comú Podem has launched to insist on his group's opposition to raising military spending because Spain "does not need bombs or fighter jets" but more social policies because "the war is with inflation".

"We don't need a war decree and we do need a thousand social decrees", he emphasized during his appearance to warn his partner that, if he follows the line of wanting to "double" arms spending, that brings him closer to the PP, which he has described as " war party".

The president of the confederal group has specified that they are not opposed to investing in Defense, but to raising some items that, in his opinion, are already at "record" levels and with allocation of expenses that are sometimes "camouflaged" that raises the item.

Therefore, Asens has reiterated that inflation will not be stopped by boosting military spending or bringing more American ships to the military base in Rota (Cádiz), which is a "favor" for the arms industry and the president of the United States. Joe Biden.

"We cannot depend on a foreign power (...) The objective of military spending of 2% of GDP is a demand not of the citizenry but of a foreign power", Asens added to criticize that the United States cannot be a reference to the being a nation that allows the free sale of weapons, reverses the right to abortion and questions climate change.

Asked if United We Can is comfortable within the Executive despite being ignored by the PSOE on this issue, the parliamentarian replied that having differences within the coalition is "normal" and should be "naturalized" because the "debate" between partners is " necessary" and believe that it should be "public".

"We feel comfortable in the Government but we feel uncomfortable with this decision", he added to insist that they did not like the behavior of the PSOE but the stability of the Executive is not in danger and that they have already reached two agreements on the General State Budgets .

Of course, he has recognized that the "most visible" discrepancy between United We Can and PSOE is the increase in the Defense budget within next year's public accounts, but they also have a battery of claims whose path was explained yesterday by the Minister of Social Rights , Ione Belarra.
