United We Can see the Government's salary increase "moderate" and remember that in the CGPJ and the TC they charge more

MADRID, 7 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The United Left deputy and deputy spokesperson for United We Can, Enrique Santiago, has described the 4% salary increase applied to the Government and parliamentarians as "moderate" (1.5% now and 2.5% in 2023), and He has stressed that these are "tiny amounts" in the Administration and that they charge more in other institutions such as the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) or the Constitutional Court (TC).

The General State Budget project for 2023 reflects a 4% increase in the remuneration of the members of the Government in relation to the previous year. The Executive has chosen to apply the salary increases agreed for officials, 1.5% this year and 2.5% for the next. The same will apply to deputies and senators, although parties such as Vox and Ciudadanos have already advanced their rejection.

At a press conference in Congress, Enrique Santiago said that he does not want to "make excessive populism" with this matter and in any case believes that it is a "moderate" increase that does not exceed the CPI and that it represents "minimal amounts" in the budgets.

As he has said, United We Can would not have any problem if this increase were not applied, and in any case he considers that there are other priorities in the Budgets that deserve more attention.

In any case, he has stressed that the members of the Government and the deputies "are not the ones with the highest salaries in the public sector", underlining that they earn more in the Council of the Judicial Power and in the Constitutional Court, which on top of that are totally or partially expired. "I think that the president of the TC is the highest salary of the Administration", she has slipped her.
