The Ukrainian authorities have assured this Friday that they have regained control of more than 1,600 "settlements" taken by Russian forces since the beginning of the war, triggered on February 24 by the invasion order given by the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. .

Kirilo Timoshenko, the 'number two' in the office of the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has indicated in a message on his Telegram account that "since the beginning of the war 1,620 settlements have been vacated", before advocating a "consumption intelligent" of energy and heating in the framework of the conflict.

"Please use energy intelligently in the morning, between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (local time), and in the afternoon, between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.," he stressed, a message in which he congratulated to the population for the Day of the Defenders of Ukraine, which is celebrated this Friday.

"The Day of Heroes, respected throughout the country and whose achievements are known throughout the world. I congratulate all those who defend Ukraine and remember all those who gave their lives for Ukraine," he said, hours after Zelensky highlighted the "defenders of Ukraine" fighting "for the independence and freedom of future generations".
