MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The ETA members Óscar Abad Palacios and José Ramón Martínez have disassociated themselves during the trial that was held this Monday at the National Court of the attack with a bicycle bomb that ended the life of the policeman Ignacio Pérez Álvarez in Galdacano (Vizcaya) in January 1990 For her part, the former member of the terrorist group Carmen Guisásola has refused to testify.

The Prosecutor's Office requests 30 years for each of the defendants, considering that Abad Palacios and José Ramón Martínez activated the explosive device that they had previously left in the saddlebag of a bicycle by means of radio control. Guisásola, according to the account of the Public Ministry, reported to the other two the information about the daily activities of the victim and provided the bicycle.

Abad Palacios, the first to testify during the oral hearing, has maintained that he joined ETA in the spring of 1991, more than a year after the attack, which occurred in January 1990. At the time of the attack, he has assured, he was preparing to begin compulsory military service.

To questions from his defense, Palacios recalled the night of October 25, 1991, when he was arrested. "They detained us because a device we were preparing exploded. My partner died and I was seriously injured on the floor. I was transferred in a very serious situation to the Basurto hospital," he recounted.

"The memory is very diffuse, I was sedated, not very conscious. One day a person came who said he was my lawyer and that he was going to take my statement but I could not communicate with him (...) The only memory I have is that the Police asked, I answered and the lawyer... I saw a lump there in a corner. I was merely like a plaster cat", he has affected.

In this context, Palacios has repeated that his statements were made under pressure and in an "environment of violence." "The Policeman takes my hand to sign," he asserted.

José Ramón Martínez, for his part, has pointed out that he did not collaborate with ETA until "a little later" after the attack. "I only knew my Basque teacher, he was a self-employed electrician. He asked me to go buy some material and he didn't ask many questions. I wasn't stupid, you knew what it could be for but you didn't ask much. Little by little he asked me for more things and I told him that I didn't want to get involved because it could bring me problems," he said.

Martínez, who has pointed out that he was convicted of belonging to the gang after his fingerprints appeared on some batteries used in an explosive device, has followed the same line marked by Palacios, denouncing alleged violations of rights during his police statement.

His statement before the agents, which would have occurred without his having been able to see his lawyer, was later changed before the examining magistrate. "Because they were hitting me, they left me without sleep and they threatened me with people from my family. Terrible and oyster pressure", he has added.

The first session of the trial has closed with the statement of the agent who went to the scene of the attack after receiving a call warning of it. "When I arrive, I observe a person who has died as a result of an explosion of an artifact that affects him fully," he recounted.

The oral hearing will resume and conclude this Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with the testimony of witnesses.
