Three men killed in a new massacre in western Colombia

At least three people have died this Sunday in the municipality of Rosas, in the department of Cauca, a town located in western Colombia.

This multiple murder was recorded around 02:00 on Sunday approximately 15 kilometers from the urban center of Rosas.

"According to the information --preliminary--, it was established that around 02:00 in the morning, in a public establishment, three people were identified by a group of armed individuals, who moved them to the cemetery of the town, where they were killed," the Cauca Police said, according to the newspaper 'Semana'.

The victims have been identified as Leandro Pimentel, James Chávez and Tito Chávez, the latter two being members of the same family.

The agent has reported that two of the deceased had criminal records related to theft crimes between 2019 and 2022.

Local authorities have created an institutional group to investigate the crime, although it points to criminal organizations such as Gao Carlos Patiño.

The Ombudsman's Office issued an early warning in which it is stated that the increase in these massacres represents the deterioration of security, so it is necessary to resume the implementation of the peace agreement forgotten in the previous government, assured Leonardo Gonzales, director of the Observatory of Conflicts of INDEPAZ, as reported by the RCN Radio station.
