The Ukrainian Parliament endorses the extension of martial law until the end of August

MADRID, 22 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Ukrainian Parliament has endorsed the decree of the president, Volodimir Zelenski, to extend another three months, until August 23, the martial law decreed in February in response to the invasion of Russian forces.

The measure was initially introduced on February 24 and was initially extended for months, but the authorities consider that the prolongation of the conflict requires that martial law be maintained for longer.

Deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak has confirmed Parliament's support for this measure, together with which it has also been agreed to extend another 90 days the general mobilization decreed to respond to the military offensive ordered by the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have assured this Sunday that, since the beginning of the invasion, more than 29,000 Russian soldiers have died, something that Moscow does not confirm, according to the UNIAN news agency.
