The TSJ of Catalonia urges the Generalitat to "issue the instructions" to apply the 25% of Spanish

They affirm that "it is not about affecting the rights of students and teachers"

The High Court of Justice (TSJC) has urged the Minister of Education, Josep Gonzàlez-Cambray, to "issue instructions, rulings and circulars on teaching staff" to ensure that the sentence that requires the teaching of at least one 25% of teaching hours in Spanish.

It has done so in two orders this Wednesday, which with the same argument dismiss two resources from the Generalitat, consulted by Europa Press: the first confirms the execution that it ordered at the request of the Assembly for a Bilingual School (AEB), and in the The second does the same with the order that accepted the request of the father of a student, to whom the court gave legitimacy to appear as an affected party in the procedure.

The court reproaches the Generalitat for alleging that the ruling violates the rights of students and teachers but, "however, it does not contribute to arguing why it considers that the ruling is violating the rights of students and teachers when what is involved is ensure is a minimum teaching hours of Spanish and Catalan in schools".

The judges consider that "it is not about affecting the rights of students and teachers but about guaranteeing a minimum of effective and immediate teaching through the normal vehicular use of the two languages" in the classrooms.

The order that confirms the execution of the sentence at the request of the father of a student from Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Barcelona) includes the dissenting opinion of two magistrates, who question whether the man was entitled to intervene in the procedure.

These two judges already disagreed with the court's decision when they admitted him in the case, and now they reiterate it because this Wednesday's order "insists on the same reasons" to which they already opposed.
