The Fiscal Council unanimously endorses the permanence of Manuel Campoy in the Prosecutor's Office of the National Court

MADRID, 15 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, has proposed 9 appointments in the fiscal leadership, including a position in the Supreme Court (TS) and another in the National Court (AN). For the latter, Manuel Campoy has had the endorsement of the Fiscal Council as a whole, although three positions have been resolved against the criteria of the majority of the members.

On this occasion, of the 9 places at stake, there were only 5 for which several candidates were present, of which Campoy's was awarded unanimously; that of the Labor Chamber of the Supreme Court, in line with the majority vote; and the other 3 against the latter. In addition, the remaining 4 have been resolved in favor of the only applicant, according to sources consulted by Europa Press.

Campoy, who entered the prosecutor's career in 1992, has been assigned to the prosecutor's offices of Malaga, Elche, Ibiza and Valencia, where he specialized in matters pertaining to the social, contentious-administrative, civil and commercial jurisdictions, as well as in the media. ambient. Since 2019 he has been assigned to the National Court Prosecutor's Office in a situation of secondment, where he is attached to the contentious-administrative and social section.

For the TS, Juan Calixto has been proposed, who has obtained the majority of the votes (6 out of 10). In the Public Ministry since 1988, his entire career has been linked to the Badajoz Prosecutor's Office. In addition, as highlighted by the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) in a statement, "it has carried out an important teaching activity", which is why it has extensive doctrinal and scientific production, particularly in the field of health law, a matter closely related to the contentious-administrative and social jurisdictions".

However, García Ortiz has proposed José Luis Sánchez-Jáuregui as chief prosecutor of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Tenerife; Ana María Sola as chief prosecutor of the Bizkaia Provincial Prosecutor's Office; and Francisco Ortega as chief prosecutor of the Mérida Area Prosecutor's Office; all of them having 4 votes compared to the 7 that other applicants for these three positions have added.

The sources detail that the 4 votes correspond to the 2 of the Progressive Union of Prosecutors (UPF) -to which García Ortiz belonged- and to the born members: the lieutenant prosecutor of the TS and the chief inspector prosecutor, María Ángeles Sánchez Conde and María Antonia Sanz, respectively. The other 7 come from the 6 members of the Association of Prosecutors (AF), the majority in the race, and from the vote of the Professional and Independent Association of Prosecutors (APIF).

Ortega has been a prosecutor since 2006 and since 2007 he has been assigned to the Mérida Area Prosecutor's Office, where he has been acting chief prosecutor since last September. The FGE highlights that he is a specialist in violence against women and the environment, being the provincial coordinator of forest fires.

For his part, Sánchez Jáuregui, a specialist in labor law, entered the prosecutor's career in 1988 and his entire career has been linked to the Tenerife Prosecutor's Office, of which he is currently its prosecutor lieutenant.

Alone, a prosecutor since 1991, she has passed through the Ourense (Verín) and Barcelona (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat) prosecutor's offices and since 1995 she has been assigned to the Bizkaia Provincial Prosecutor's Office. In her case, she is a specialist in violence against women, a section that she launched, although she is also an expert in hate crimes and discrimination and participates in compliance and mediation services.

As lieutenant prosecutor of the La Rioja Prosecutor's Office, García Ortiz has proposed the only candidate, Valentín José de la Iglesia Palacios. Prosecutor since 2003, he has practiced in Guipúzcoa, Vizcaya and Álava, and in 2009 he joined the Rioja Prosecutor's Office.
