The RFEF will challenge the "illegal" bases approved by the LPFF

MADRID, 9 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced this Tuesday that it will take "pertinent actions" before the Spanish judicial bodies for the Competition Bases approved by the Professional Women's Football League (LPFF), which it will also challenge, rules that it qualified of "illegality", for being "contrary to the law" and the regulations of UEFA and FIFA.

"The RFEF received a communication from the CSD in which, in accordance with current legislation and as defended by the federal entity, it urges a meeting with the LPFF, the majority union (FUTPRO) and the RFEF to reach the appropriate agreements on the launch of the new women's professional competition in relation to non-EU players", began the RFEF note on the current situation of the First Division of Women's Football.

On the other hand, the RFEF reported that the LPFF communicated this Monday to the Federation itself some Competition Bases "apparently approved unanimously" of the competition. However, from the body chaired by Luis Rubiales they insisted that the LPFF "lacks the powers to approve such Bases." "It is thus attributed some delegated public powers that it does not hold, with the consequences of all kinds that this may entail," he stressed.

"Apparently, the LPFF approved these regulations in two Assemblies that were not convened in accordance with the RFEF Law, so they will be challenged," he announced, before stating that it is "a new illegality of the LPFF." "The Bases are contrary to Spanish law and the regulations of UEFA and FIFA. This new illegality of the LPFF will be immediately brought to the attention of UEFA and FIFA, before the CSD and pertinent actions will also be taken before the organs Spanish courts," he added.

In addition, in its statement, the RFEF addressed the issue of the draw for the competition calendar, after the CSD suspended the draws for the Women's First Division of football on July 26 due to the "presence of discrepancies" between the LPFF and the RFEF on the competition for the organization and holding of the pairing draw.

Given this, the Federation awaits the resolution of the CSD on the competition calendar draw and recalled that the federative entity "has made all the draws in the history of all categories of national football, both professional and non-professional."

"The RFEF trusts that the CSD will ensure that our legal system is complied with and thus avoid possible negative consequences for the LPFF clubs," the statement concluded.
