The PSOE slips that Feijóo opts for abstention in the motion of censure so as not to thwart agreements with Vox after 28M

Montero believes that Feijóo "throws the stone and hides his hand" and asks him to vote "no"

MADRID, 27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Deputy Secretary General of the PSOE and Minister of Finance and Public Function, María Jesús Montero, has criticized this Monday that the PP has opted for abstention in the motion of cesura against the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, which Vox has registered this Monday .

In statements to the media after the meeting of the Executive Commission of the PSOE, he wondered if the abstention announced by the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, is due to the fact that he does not want to "disturb" "his possible partners" after the elections regional and municipal 28M.

He has also indicated that with this decision Feijóo "throws the stone and hides his hand" because he assures that he "blesses the pact but removes himself from the photo." This is how the meetings he held with the candidate proposed by Vox, the economist and former politician, Ramón Tamames, and with the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, in which, according to the PSOE, PP and Vox, prepared the motion, have been blamed. Feijóo, however, has denied it and has always described it as an "error" that only benefits the Sánchez government.

In this sense, the number two of the PSOE has stressed that this is Feijóo's modus operandi, since he already acted in the same way in the demonstration against Sánchez that was held in January in Madrid, to which he did not attend, although from the PP "they encouraged their militants" to attend, as he has pointed out.

He has also accused him of doing the same in the government agreement with Vox in Castilla y León, because in his opinion from Genoa they agreed with it but Feijóo tried not to be photographed with Vox.

Montero has described this decision of the PP as "unheard of" and has remarked that it means that it abstains in the face of the possibility that there is a government presided over by the ultra-right, although they do not have enough support for it to move forward. He has thus asked him to reconsider and go to the "resounding no".

Along the same lines, he regretted that Feijóo is not going to attend the debate on the motion of no confidence, which at the moment does not have a date and has indicated that he lacks "courage" in moments of difficulty like this.

Regarding the dates on which it could be held, he recalled that on the previous occasion that this mechanism was used, in 2018 when Pedro Sánchez arrived at La Moncloa for the first time, it was carried out "20 or 25 days after showing up".

They have also ruled out that they are going to dedicate little time to the interventions of the motion, as they have requested from United We Can, which qualifies it as a "parliamentary number." On the contrary, Montero has advanced that they will take it "seriously", since it is the best way to "not play the game of anti-politics" and they will take the opportunity to confront their country model with the one defended by "PP and Vox".

Thus they have asked to take any motion seriously regardless of who presents it, it is something that should know, above all, "those who have presented them" while defending that they are not carried out only when there is a majority to win them, because otherwise of the five that have been carried out in democracy, only Sánchez's victory against the PP.

On the other hand, María Jesús Montero has admitted that after three months of negotiation with Unidas Podemos to reform the law of 'only if it is yes' they are not "capable of moving forward" and therefore has insisted that other groups enter the debate for If they have another proposal that allows increasing the penalties and protecting consent, because in their opinion, today only the one presented by the PSOE offers guarantees on both points.

Finally, regarding the discrepancies in the Government on the shipment of war material to Ukraine, he has made it clear that international and foreign policy "corresponds to the president" and it is something that has always been clear in the agreements with his coalition partner.

"Thus, he has ensured that "there is no discussion" within the Executive branch on this matter, regardless of the opinion of United We Can as a party. Along the same lines, PSOE sources point out that the Communist Party - in which Yolanda is a member Díaz--, was never a pacifist party and has indicated that within United We Can there are many sensitivities regarding this issue.
