Responds to the criticism of the PP about the INE that the popular used the Ministry of the Interior against their rivals

MADRID, 28 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PSOE spokesman in Congress, Héctor Gómez, pointed out this Tuesday that there was no initial lack of empathy on the part of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, after the deaths of several sub-Saharans who tried to cross the fence in Melilla. Likewise, he has asked to let the Ministry of the Interior work in the face of the investigation requests that various political groups are demanding.

Sánchez pointed out that Morocco's actions during the attempt to attack the Melilla fence, which left almost thirty people dead, was a "well resolved" case. For this reason, when asked if there was a lack of empathy on the part of the president, Gómez stated that the chief executive has made clear his "commitment" to avoid "so dramatic" situations due to the migratory phenomenon.

In an interview on TVE, collected by Europa Press, Gómez pointed out that the Government has "never" raised objections, but that they are now in the "clarification phase" for which they have asked for "caution" and let the Interior work.

"Always willingness to collaborate with parliamentary groups, appear in the Chamber, but at this time prior investigation work by the Ombudsman and let the Ministry of the Interior work on a phenomenon as sensitive as migration," he insisted.

However, the spokesman has affirmed the "commitment" of the Government so that no more images like those of Melilla are produced, nor in "any other area" where human lives are claimed. "We deeply regret this situation," he has settled.

When asked about the criticism of the Popular Party after the resignation of the president of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), Juan Manuel Rodríguez Poo, Gómez has reproached the PP for doing everything to achieve power, including using the Ministry of the Interior and the Police to "attack political rivals". "The thief believes that everyone is of his condition," he has expressed.

Likewise, Gómez has indicated that the Government has acted with serenity and fulfilling the necessary appointments because if a person has resigned, his "responsibility is to replace" and manage the institutions with "total transparency".

The PP's Deputy Secretary for Institutions, Esteban González Pons, denounced on Monday Sánchez's "institutional assault" on Indra and the INE after losing the Andalusian elections.

Faced with the "dynamics of attacking the Government and blocking the institutions capitalized by the PP", the socialist has asked the 'popular' what happens so that they join the constitutional mandate for the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).
