The PSOE on the possible paralysis of the TC to its reform: "I do not even want to imagine that scenario, I do not contemplate it"

He accuses Feijóo of generating an unprecedented crisis by delegitimizing the Government, Parliament and the Judiciary

MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesperson for the Federal Executive Commission of the PSOE and Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría, has reported this Monday that she does not even want to imagine that the Constitutional Court could paralyze the parliamentary process of the reform of the Court of Guarantees itself that promotes the Government and therefore "does not contemplate" this scenario.

"As a Democrat I do not want and I cannot imagine that scenario, I do not contemplate it," she replied when asked about the possibility that the TC paralyzes this process - which has already passed the vote in Congress and must now go to the Senate -, in an appearance from the PSOE headquarters on Ferraz street.

Alegría has made it clear that she does not want to anticipate the decision that the TC must adopt and only hopes that it will make a decision "adjusted to the law" and has recalled that the PSOE have requested that the two magistrates whose mandate expired in June not participate in this decision because they would be "judge and party" since they must decide on their continuity at the head of the body.

In the same line, she has expressed herself when asked about the position of her partner in the Government, United We Can, who has asked not to abide by the decision adopted by the TC and to continue with the processing of the reform. Thus, she has asked that they not put her in that scenario that has not yet occurred: "I do not even want to imagine it, as a Democrat I do not want to or cannot imagine that scenario," she reiterated. At this point, she has specified that the PSOE has always shown respect for the separation of powers and respect for Justice.

On this same matter, when asked if the Government leaves the door open to lowering the majorities necessary to elect the members of the General Council of the Judiciary in Congress, Alegría has asked not to advance events: "Do not ask me to advance any screen ", he pointed out.

Likewise, it has rejected that the Executive is considering taking tomorrow to the Council of Ministers the dismissal of the two magistrates of the TC whose mandate has expired since last summer.

On the other hand, the socialist spokesperson has asked the PP and its leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, "responsibility and respect" and has assured that the lack of both towards the powers of the State has led to "an unprecedented crisis" in the country.

In his opinion, this has occurred because the PP did not recognize the legitimacy of the current government from the beginning of the legislature and now "does not respect the separation of powers", as he has accused. "All this has caused a situation of blockade that can generate an unprecedented crisis in democracy," he insisted.

For the PSOE spokesperson, the 'populares' have delegitimized the Executive since the first days of the legislature and now "they also intend to delegitimize Congress and the Senate", she added. In addition, she considers that they have also delegitimized the Judiciary by spending four years "blocking" the renewal of the CGPJ. "It is something very serious", she has complained herself.

In this same line, he has defended that the only anomaly that Spanish democracy suffers is "a right that becomes anti-system when it does not govern", he launched.

Finally, when asked if she believes that King Felipe VI should arbitrate in this matter, given that she herself has spoken of an institutional crisis, she has indicated that the powers of the Executive, Legislative and Judicial powers are "very determined" and has expressed his "maximum respect" for the King and for the Royal House.
