The Attorney General of the State of Peru, Patricia Benavides, presented a constitutional complaint against President Pedro Castillo on Tuesday afternoon before the country's Congress for the alleged crimes of criminal organization, influence peddling and aggravated collusion.

This has been reported by the Peruvian Public Ministry in a statement in which it has detailed that the complaint also reaches the former Minister of Transportation Juan Silva, a fugitive from Justice since June, and the former Minister of Housing Geiner Alvarado.

"I file a constitutional complaint against José Pedro Castillo Terrones in his capacity as president of the Republic of Peru as the alleged perpetrator of crimes against public tranquility in the form of criminal organization aggravated by his status as leader," reads the document signed by Benavides and delivered to Parliament.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Castillo would be the head of a criminal organization active in the Ministry of Transport and Communications in complicity with Silva, as well as with officials from Provías Nacional and Provías Descentralizado, the Presidential Office and businessmen and third parties, to favor the consortium. This constitutional complaint must now be evaluated by the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations, chaired by the former president of Congress Lady Camones (APP). In the subcommittee, a delegate congressman must be appointed to evaluate the complaint and present an initial report, then a hearing will be convened to listen to the arguments of the parties and finally the conclusions will be presented, which will have to be put to a vote.

The accusation has been presented three days after two lawyers close to Castillo filed a complaint against the state attorney general for having allegedly committed a crime of concealment of personnel by changing the prosecutor who had mainly been in charge of the case that investigates irregularities in within the Peruvian Presidency.

Lawyers close to the Peruvian president argue that the prosecutor would have tried to obstruct and weaken the action of his institution in the framework of the investigations faced by his sisters, judges Enma and Ruth Benavides, by removing provisional supreme prosecutor Bersabeth Revilla from her post. , reported the newspaper 'El Comercio'.

All in all, Pedro Castillo has six open investigations against him, of which five are handled by the Peruvian Attorney General's Office.
