The price of electricity in Germany exceeds 1,000 euros per megawatt hour by 2023

MADRID, 29 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The wholesale cost of electricity in Germany for 2023 has marked a new milestone in its climb, exceeding this Monday for the first time 1,000 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh), doubling its price in just two weeks as a result of the crisis of energy supply in the region.

In this way, the electricity price futures for 2023, according to data from the European Energy Exchange, collected by Bloomberg, have registered a rise of around 100% since last August 16 they exceeded 500 for the first time euros per megawatt-hour.

A year ago, the price of a megawatt hour was below 90 euros.

According to data from Bloomberg, the price of energy in Germany for 2023 reached 1,050 euros per megawatt-hour at 10:19 am in Berlin, after last Friday they exceeded the threshold of 1,000 euros in the case of France.

The French group EDF announced last week that the closures of four nuclear reactors will be extended for a few more weeks due to corrosion problems. Currently, 32 of the 56 French reactors are out of service due to maintenance work or corrosion risk assessment.
