The President of Ukraine supports the creation of a visa control mechanism for Russian citizens

MADRID, 26 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, has sent a letter to the Prime Minister, Denis Shmigal, to work on the implementation of a visa control mechanism for citizens from Russia who enter the country.

"In the context of large-scale Russian aggression, the issue raised is important and urgent, which is why I support the need to strengthen the control regime on the entry of Russian citizens into Ukraine," the Ukrainian president said.

The petition on the need to introduce a visa control mechanism for Russian citizens was published on the website of the Ukrainian Presidency on February 11 this year and obtained 26,742 votes out of the 25,000 necessary, according to the Ukrainian media. .

On the other hand, after three months of Russian invasion of the country, Zelenskiy assured in his usual evening speech that the Ukrainian Armed Forces "are resisting the extremely fierce offensive of the Russian troops in the east" against an "enemy" that is "substantially superior in terms of equipment and number of soldiers."

"We still need the help of partners, especially weapons for Ukraine. Total help! No exceptions, no restrictions. Enough to win," the Ukrainian president reiterated, also recalling his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland) .

"Still in Davos, for example, Kissinger emerges from the deep past and says that a part of the Ukraine must be given to Russia. So that there is no alienation of Russia from Europe," he said, referring to comments made by the former secretary of North American state.

Specifically, Kissinger has said that Ukraine should cede territory to Russia based on the dividing line, which should be a return to the previous 'status quo', to help put an end to the invasion, according to the newspaper 'The Washington Post'. '.

"By the way, in the year 1938, when Kissinger's family was fleeing from Nazi Germany, he was 15 years old and understood everything perfectly. And no one knew from him then that it was necessary to adapt to the Nazis instead of fleeing from them or fighting. against them," Zelensky replied.

For his part, Shmigal has specified this Wednesday that the basis for the renewal of the country, after the war, will be national security, European integration and economic transformation, according to the Ukrinform news agency.

"To do this, we are working on optimizing and improving the entire field of defense, establishing long-term alliances with countries that will strengthen our military complex," he said, adding that "European integration for Ukraine will mean open export markets or access to the EU structural funds".

He also pointed out that this integration will ultimately lead to a "long-awaited reunification with the European peoples", with whom Ukraine has "many more common values than with its eastern neighbor".
