The president of the European Parliament visits Spain to receive an award and meet with Sánchez and the King

MADRID, 22 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, will visit Madrid this Thursday and Friday to receive an award and hold various meetings, among others with King Felipe VI and the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez.

Precisely, the agenda of his visit will start on Thursday afternoon with his meeting at the Moncloa Palace with the President of the Government. The appointment will take place just a week after the PSOE voted against a resolution in the European Parliament that denounced the possible participation of Morocco in the bribery scheme to gain political weight in the European institutions.

After that, Metsola will receive the Woman of the Year award from the Women in a Legal World association, whose mission is to promote and make visible female talent in the legal sector, at a ceremony at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

The association has chosen her for her work at the head of the European Parliament at a particularly complicated time due to the war in Ukraine, for her commitment to the fight against corruption as a result of uncovering 'Qatargate' and for her staunch defense of the values of the EU, as explained in a statement.

Already on Friday, Metsola will be received in audience first thing in the morning by the King at the Palacio de la Zarzuela. She will then move to the Senate, where she will meet with its president, Ánder Gil, and will participate in the act on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

After that, he will go to the Madrid City Council, where he will meet with its owner, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and plans to hold a small discussion with a group of young people. Metsola will close his visit with a meeting with the president of the Congress of Deputies, Meritxell Batet.
