The President of Poland highlights the failure of Putin in his attempt to "split" the NATO countries

MADRID, 4 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Poland, Andrzej Duda, highlighted on Monday the failure of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in trying to "divide" and cause "discord" between the NATO countries to meet their "aggressive objectives".

"Putin hoped to hit NATO, but he miscalculated. He thought that he could sow discord among the countries of the Alliance, that the member states would not be able to make important decisions together that could shape the security sphere," he said.

His words come during a meeting of the Polish National Security Council, which has held a meeting to analyze the results of the NATO summit held in Madrid last week.

Thus, he stressed that the member countries have managed to take the pertinent measures "in many aspects" and recalled that three relevant documents were adopted during the summit: the NATO Strategic Concept, a joint declaration and an agreement on the admission of new members.

"Now, the Alliance border will be expanded by about 1,400 kilometers, which is not great news for the Russian government, whose ambition was to dominate and absorb others," Duda said.
