The PP withdraws the appeal in which it requested the acquittal of Bárcenas: "The legal strategy collides with the political logic

The PP's Deputy Secretary for Institutions, Esteban González Pons, announced this Monday that his party has decided to withdraw the appeal requesting the acquittal of former treasurer Luis Bárcenas for the 'Génova' works to revoke the conviction of the party as civilly responsible . As he explained, the leadership of the PP led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo was not aware of this resource and, in this case, the "legal strategy collides with" political logic ".

"We did not know it and, knowing it, we do not share it, therefore, the PP management committee has decided that this resource is withdrawn today," González Pons announced at a press conference at the PP's national headquarters.

González Pons has specified that this resource was drafted in the month of November - when Pablo Casado led the PP - and was presented shortly before the extraordinary congress in Seville in early April that elected Alberto Núñez Feijóo president of the party.

Specifically, the PP filed that appeal in April before the Supreme Court requesting the acquittal of Bárcenas for the sentence of the National High Court that sentenced him to two years in prison for the works of the headquarters of the 'popular' in the street Genoa, which would exempt the formation from its subsidiary civil liability.

It was last October when the AN sentenced Bárcenas to two years in prison for paying in 'b' more than a million euros for the reform works of the 'popular' headquarters, while condemning the PP as civilly responsible subsidiary of Bárcenas in the amount of 123,669 euros for the 2007 Corporation Tax (IS) of Unifica, the architecture studio that was in charge of the remodeling.
