Gamarra assures that "the Spaniards deserve explanations" and Pons attributes what happened to Sánchez's "cheating and erratic policy"

MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PP has demanded this Wednesday the urgent appearance in the Congress of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, so that he gives explanations in Congress about the suspension by Algeria of the friendship treaty with Spain, a "very bad news" that, according to the 'popular', is due to Sánchez's "lurches" after reaffirming his turn on the Sahara.

This has been pronounced after the president of Algeria, Abdelmayid Tebune, has announced the "immediate" suspension of the friendship treaty signed with Spain almost two decades ago in retaliation for his "unjustifiable" support for Morocco's autonomy plan over the Sahara Western.

The Algerian authorities criticize the Spanish for the campaign undertaken to try to argue a political turn that, according to what they have put forward, supposes a "violation of the legal, moral and political obligations" of what continues to be the "administrating power" of Western Sahara.

The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, has stressed that the Spanish "deserve explanations" and has added that for this reason the Popular Group has requested the urgent appearance of the minister in parliament.

"Pedro Sánchez has done it again. Algeria breaks the good neighborly treaty with Spain. Another consequence of the lack of State policy," said the 'number two' of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, in a message on his official Twitter account. Twitter, which has collected Europa Press.

Precisely this Wednesday, in the debate held in Congress on the change of position in the Sahara, Gamarra had already demanded that the Prime Minister fix "as soon as possible the mess" that he has generated in relations with Algeria" and that they are marking the economy because exports are being affected.

For his part, the PP's Deputy Secretary for Institutions, Esteban González Pons, has pointed out that the suspension of friendship between Algeria and Spain is "very bad news, the result of Sánchez's individualistic, tricky and erratic policy with the Maghreb".

"Cynicism doesn't work internationally either. If he paid out of pocket for the cost of his mistakes...", said the PP MEP in a message on his official Twitter account, which has been collected by Europa Press.

The PP Foreign Affairs spokeswoman in Congress, Valentina Martínez, has expressed herself in similar terms, stressing that now we will have to see what consequences Algeria's decision to suspend the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborhood and Cooperation with Spain will have.

The Popular Group considers that the suspension of the friendship treaty, which is "very bad news for our country, is due to the absence of a true foreign policy with a sense of State, as well as the unilateral turns and lurches of the Prime Minister ".

The first opposition party considers that where there was "a problem, instead of solving it, it generates three," according to party sources. For all these reasons, this afternoon the request for the urgent appearance of Minister Albares in the Foreign Affairs Commission has been registered to "explain the situation of the relationship with Algeria after the lurches in the Government's foreign policy", according to what is stated verbatim in the letter.
