The PP sees the decision of the TC as "good news", which "has not allowed itself to be influenced by pressure from the Government"

MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Popular Party considers the decision of the Constitutional Court admitting the appeal of its party and refusing to remove two magistrates as "good news", although they continue "waiting for the pronouncement on the merits of the matter". In his opinion, with this step the guarantee court "has not allowed itself to be influenced by pressure from the Government," "popular" sources have indicated.

This has been pronounced after the Plenary of the Constitutional Court (TC) has agreed to admit the appeal of the PP against the two amendments by which the system of election and arrival of the two candidates to the TC appointed by the General Council is modified of the Judiciary (CGPJ); and reject the challenges of United We Can (UP) and PSOE against two magistrates; now entering the debate on the request of the PP to urgently suspend the processing of these two amendments in the Senate.

PP sources have indicated that they are still "waiting for a pronouncement on the merits of the matter", but they have indicated that "the decision that has come out is undoubtedly good news" for Spanish democracy, "for the guarantee of the rights of the representatives of the citizens" and for Spain.

"The TC has not been influenced by the pressures of the Government and has accepted the PP's claim for processing, which shows that the filing of the appeal was a correct decision and that in its authoritarian drift the Government has crossed all the red lines" They have added the same sources from the PP leadership.
