The PP defends the actions of the King in Colombia and sees inadmissible that the Government "insults" the head of state

MADRID, 9 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputy spokesman and coordinator of the PP Economy in Congress, Jaime de Olano, does not believe that there is controversy in the King's gesture for not standing up to the passing of Simón Bolívar's sword at the inauguration of Gustavo Petro as president of Colombia , and what he does criticize is that the Government "insults" the Head of State for it.

Felipe VI's gesture has been criticized by United We Can, including Minister Ione Belarra, even demanding that Colombia be apologized. From the PSOE, on the other hand, they subtract significance from that episode, which they brand as a summer controversy.

In statements at the headquarters of the PP, Olano has indicated that the king "has strictly complied with the protocol", so they see "with surprise" that half of the Executive "is dedicated to criticizing" the head of state in this way.

"This is inadmissible. It has not been seen in any country in the civilized world," said the deputy spokesman, who regrets being "more than used" to this type of action by the government led by Pedro Sánchez.

In his opinion, this behavior demonstrates "once again" the "weaknesses" of the Government, and he has criticized the division of the Executive which, as he has stated, is "the most divided in the history of democracy."

Finally, he has denounced in the same way that Pedro Sánchez "is not capable" of putting order in his Government, specifically referring to the ministers of United We Can, as he added.
