The PP blames Sánchez's "trickster and erratic" policy with the Maghreb for Algeria's step of suspending friendship

MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PP's deputy secretary for Institutions, Esteban González Pons, assured this Wednesday that Algeria's decision to suspend its friendship treaty with Spain is due to the "individualistic, tricky and erratic policy" of the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez, with the Mabreb.

This has been pronounced after the president of Algeria, Abdelmayid Tebune, has announced the "immediate" suspension of the friendship treaty signed with Spain almost two decades ago in retaliation for his "unjustifiable" support for Morocco's autonomy plan over the Sahara Western.

The Algerian authorities criticize the Spanish for the campaign undertaken to try to argue a political turn that, according to what they have put forward, supposes a "violation of the legal, moral and political obligations" of what continues to be the "administrating power" of Western Sahara.

According to González Pons, the suspension of friendship between Algeria and Spain is "very bad news, the result of Sánchez's individualistic, tricky and erratic policy with the Maghreb".

"Cynicism doesn't work internationally either. If he paid the cost of his mistakes out of his own pocket ...", González Pons said in a message on his official Twitter account, which Europa Press has picked up.

The PP Foreign Affairs spokeswoman in Congress, Valentina Martínez, has expressed herself in similar terms, stressing that now we will have to see what consequences Algeria's decision to suspend the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborhood and Cooperation with Spain will have.
