The PP accuses the Government of "hiding the true" unemployment data and demands "transparency" in Congress

Gamarra asks not to do "tricks" with the fixed-discontinuous ones so as not to tell the truth and Maroto says that the Executive "lies"

MADRID, 2 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, has accused this Friday the Government of Pedro Sánchez of "hiding the true" unemployment data through the fixed-discontinuous and has announced that his formation will present an initiative in Congress demanding "transparency" .

That was his answer when asked about the unemployment data in November, a month in which the number of unemployed registered in the offices of the public employment services (formerly Inem) fell by 33,512 in relation to the previous month (- 1.1%), its second largest decline this month in the historical series after the one experienced in 2021 (-74,381 unemployed).

Gamarra has not mentioned that improvement in November and has focused on denouncing that they are "make-up and hiding the true unemployment data." In fact, he has pointed out that there is information that reflects this "concern" about what is happening and echoes "this denunciation" of "independent organizations and institutions", which put "on the table how through the figure of the fixed-discontinuous data are being distorted" stoppage.

The 'number two' of Alberto Núñez Feijóo has referred to what the Foundation for Applied Economics Studies (Fedea) maintains, which indicates that at the end of October there were more than 400,000 inactive discontinuous permanent workers that were not counted in registered unemployment and published by the Public State Employment Service (SEPE).

Given this fact, the leader of the PP has advanced that her party has presented a non-legal proposal in Congress so that there is more "transparency", so that "under the figure of the discontinuous landline, many people who They don't have a fixed contract. In her understanding, a fixed-discontinuous contract is a temporary contract.

After emphasizing that these data are currently "absolutely distorted", Gamarra has affirmed that the work of a government "is not to look for tricks to hide a reality but to provide transparency to official data so that Spaniards can know the truth" and "ask for action"

"No matter how much you change the name of a contract, if the contract is fixed-discontinuous and you only work a few days of the year and they even have several contracts of these characteristics, you do not have a permanent contract," the PP general secretary emphasized.

In similar terms, the spokesman for the Popular Group in the Senate, Javier Maroto, has spoken, who has indicated that "the Ministry is recognizing that unemployment is going down because there are more people active."

"But many of these active people are receiving unemployment. So, they are not very active, right? It is not making up the figures. It is lying. Also in this," the 'popular' senator has censured in a message on his official account Twitter.
