The Perte of the electric vehicle will mobilize 12,000 million through 487 projects

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has informed this Wednesday in the plenary session of the Congress of Deputies that the Perte (Strategic Project for the recovery and economic transformation) of the Electric and Connected Vehicle has closed its calls (on June 3). with a total of 487 projects presented, with a total investment associated and mobilized "at least 12,000 million euros".

In his appearance in the Lower House to give an account of the latest agreements in the European Council and the change in Spain's position regarding Western Sahara, Sánchez has assured that 13 large groups of companies have been presented "which include large manufacturers from the country ", with a total of 487 projects.

The president has assured that 311 companies will participate, 60% of them SMEs (182), with a total investment associated and mobilized "at least 12,000 million euros destined to modernize and electrify the production line and the entire supply chain" .

"In addition, two battery plants have been presented that are key to anchoring the production of electric cars in our country in the present and future", the president explained, highlighting how "thanks to this Perte, Spain will have at least two gigafactories, one in the Valencian Community and another in Extremadura".

The Perte VEC aid, collected within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan in 2022, amounts to 2,975 million euros. Of this amount, 1,425 million will be granted in the form of loans and another 1,550 million through grants.

This aid corresponds to the industrial part, which is completed with the Moves III Plan, to encourage the purchase of electric vehicles, or the Moves Singulares Program, among others, up to 4,295 million euros.

The Government planned to mobilize private investments for a total amount of 19,700 million, including more than 12,000 million euros linked to the electric car value chain, and its job creation forecast could reach 140,000 jobs, while the contribution to the GDP would be between 1% and 1.7%.

Other expected impacts would be to reach 250,000 electric vehicles registered in Spain and between 80,000 and 110,000 recharging points deployed during the next financial year.
