The parachutist of the Air Force successfully lands with the flag despite an "incident" when deploying the ensign

MADRID, 12 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The parachutist of the Air and Space Army managed to successfully land this Wednesday with the Spanish flag in front of the presidential gallery of the parade on October 12 despite a "technical incident" in the deployment of the banner.

Soldier Óscar García, of the Air Force Parachuting Acrobatic Patrol (PAPEA), has been in charge of descending with a large flag to land in front of the gallery occupied by the King and State authorities.

The landing was successful, although for this the soldier had to solve a problem with the flag in the air, which was wrapped around his body before being fully deployed.

His unit celebrated shortly after on Twitter the success of the mission, which culminated "after resolving with serenity, poise and great resolution capacity" what he described as a "technical incident" in the deployment of the national flag.

The parachute jump with the flag is every year one of the most tense moments of the parades, since it requires great skill and technical precision to do it in the right place. This year the construction cranes at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium made the mission even more difficult.

In 2019, the parachutist who carried the flag, from the Paratrooper Brigade of the Army, was hooked to a lamppost, becoming the involuntary protagonist of the parade.
