More than 6.5 million people have left Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion almost two months ago, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which expects the number to continue to rise in the coming weeks if they do not stop. the battles.

Only 3.5 million refugees have arrived in Poland, although the UNHCR count only takes into account the land border of departure from Ukraine and does not make estimates on the distribution of all these people, some of whom have continued on their way to other Europe points.

In Romania, 943,000 arrivals have been registered, while Hungary corresponds to another 644,000, Moldova 471,000 and Slovakia 442,000.

UNHCR has also registered some 27,000 refugees in Belarus and 920,000 in Russia, although authorities in the latter country have assured this Monday that the real figure exceeds 1.4 million, according to the TASS news agency.

The global number of refugees is added to that of internally displaced persons, more than 8 million according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
