The Prosecutor's Office accuses 47 people for whom it claims nearly 300 years in prison together

MADRID, 22 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The trial of 47 alleged members and collaborators of a branch of the 'Los Ángeles del Infierno' motorcycle gang based in Mallorca, for more than a dozen crimes, ranging from criminal organization to drug trafficking or money laundering, will begin this Monday at the headquarters of the National Court located in San Fernando de Henares.

The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office presented its indictment in January 2019 against 47 natural persons and three other legal entities for 16 charges that result in a combined balance of 298 and a half years in prison. But in the time that has elapsed since then, according to tax sources consulted by Europa Press, a statement has been taken from three other people as being investigated and the corresponding indictments have been drawn up, although it is probable that the proceedings for the opening of the oral trial will not are in time for Monday, and one of them must be tried later.

The indictment issued at the time by investigating judge Eloy Velasco placed the German citizen Frank Hannebuth at the head of the organization, until then leader of the group in Hannover and considered one of the main leaders of the 'Hells Angels' in Europe. .

However, Hannebuth would have had the help of Khalil Yousafi and his brother Abdelghani, two lieutenants who would have facilitated his landing in Mallorca along with another "group of minions".

According to the court report, "the defendants are a group of people settled on the island of Mallorca who were part of an international criminal organization that revolves around a world motorcycle club known as 'Hells Angels Motors Club' (HAMC)". Most of them, as the prosecutor explained in his indictment, "had a high standard of living" and were owners, through intermediaries, of movable and immovable property.

HAMC, founded in 1948 in the United States, would work by "chapters", apparent "autonomous groups" that "in reality are circumscribed within a solid hierarchical structure" that exercises "internal control in a coercive or violent way."

"The members of the HAMC are involved in serious crimes", which in this case have resulted in accusations of criminal organization, money laundering, drug trafficking, illegal detention, illegal possession of weapons, prostitution, threats, coercion, extortion, documentary falsification, concealment, omission of the duty to prosecute crimes, violation of secrets and bribery.

The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, in its letter, emphasized that the group's criminal activity was based especially on the use of violence and intimidation as an "intrinsic part" of its conduct and reputation. He pointed out that only with violence were they able to expand their 'chapters' in the territories of other organizations, thus obtaining new markets.

In addition, thanks to this violence, they carried out extortion in their controlled areas and carried out retaliatory actions for previous incidents.

The investigation of the Central Court of Instruction 6 allowed us to discover the implementation of one of these "chapters" in Mallorca, in a first phase from 2009 until it was dissolved in 2011 and made up mainly of members who came from Turkey. And, in a second phase, from the end of 2012 until it was dismantled in 2013, the band operated mainly with members from Germany.

One of the main criminal activities and source of financing for the plot was prostitution. According to Judge Velasco, the members of the gang brought women to Spain who looked like tourists and forced them to act coercively.

The team of prosecutors, in their indictment, added that this implementation of 'HAMC' in the Balearic Islands was a consequence of the band's strategy at a European level, "motivated by its geographical location, the existence of hostess businesses, the possibility of money laundering, capital and drug trafficking, and the presence of a foreign resident population, which facilitated extortion practices".

'Los Ángeles del Infierno' and its collaborators looked for all kinds of activities that could offer them an economic benefit. Hence, they participated in money laundering, extortion or scam operations through the creation of companies with a legal appearance with which to obtain ICO credits.

Apparently, the organization had an elaborate management, with a division of tasks and multiple collaborators, among whom were a member of the Local Police of Palma, an agent of the National Police and a civil guard.

The court pointed to a "criminal agreement between the different members of the criminal organization in the preparation and execution of the crimes to which, with temporary permanence and a certain distribution of roles, they are dedicated."

The prosecutors explained that since its implementation in 2009 there have been various police actions against its members or against people related to the organization. And they recalled, for example, that several were investigated for the crime of attempted homicide and assault on law enforcement officers, that others were charged with crimes of public disorder and injuries with a knife, and that cases of extortion related to them.

Now, the tax sources consulted indicate that it is expected that there will be quite a few compliances from the defendants, given that the main leaders were already in preventive detention for several years. All in all, and given that there are many on the run (and up to three with a search and arrest warrant), it remains to be seen who finally attends the oral hearing at the headquarters of the National Court in San Fernando de Henares.
