King Felipe VI will travel this Sunday, January 1, to the Federative Republic of Brazil on the occasion of the ceremony of transfer of the presidential command to the president-elect of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, and the Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz.

The attendance of the Head of State and the ministers at the inauguration of President Lula da Silva reaffirms, as reported by the Foreign Ministry in a statement, Spain's will to continue strengthening the "solid ties" of friendship that unite both countries and that " are accompanied by shared values ​​that redound to the benefit of citizens".

Díaz -who also attended the inauguration of Chilean President Gabriel Boric- already assured in statements to the media that "it will be an honor as always" to represent the Government and Spain on this occasion.

In addition, after meeting with his Uruguayan counterpart, Pablo Mieres, he defended that Spain's ties with Latin America "are transcendental", so the Spanish government will "always" be in favor of the countries of this region, with which it shares "history and common challenges", as well as a "culture and economy" that are "close".

Precisely, the transition office of the Brazilian president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, reported that at least 12 heads of state, including the King of Spain, Felipe VI, have confirmed their attendance for Lula's inauguration, among who are also the presidents of Germany, Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guinea-Bissau, Portugal and East Timor.
