The investigation commission on the 'Mediator' case adds Vox, Cs, ERC and Compromís, and Podemos does not rule it out

MADRID, 1 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Vox, Ciudadanos, ERC and Compromís, in addition to the PP, have advanced their willingness to support the creation of an investigation commission in Congress on the so-called 'Mediator' case that led to the dismissal of the socialist deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo. Junts and the CUP could be added to them; while Unidas Podemos does not rule it out, as long as the commission is not promoted by the PP.

Ciudadanos was the first party that spoke of creating an investigation commission for this Canarian corruption plot, in view of the fact that the judicial investigation has uncovered meetings in offices of the Socialist Group and dinners with deputies from this party followed by parties that included drugs and prostitution.

But the orange party did not obtain the necessary signatures and it was the PP who announced this Wednesday that it will register it. The 'popular' spokesperson, Cuca Gamarra, alleges that this case "cannot be covered up" and that it is time for Congress "not to look the other way" because "this plot was also at work" in its offices.

Vox has already confirmed that it will support the commission to purify political responsibilities, although it insists that "the best way to point out the PSOE" is by supporting its motion of censure. Those of Santiago Abascal are more confident in appearing as popular accusation in the case, which is still in the judicial phase.

This Tuesday, various groups spoke on this point in Congress. The spokesperson for Compromís, Joan Baldoví, was the first to guarantee that his formation will support "any initiative" that is launched to investigate the plot, no matter who presents it.

After him, the ERC parliamentary spokesman, Gabriel Rufián, advanced that his group will vote in favor of the constitution of a commission. Compromís and ERC could be joined by the independentists of Junts and the CUP, although for the moment they have not publicly stated their position on the matter.

Even Unidas Podemos, a partner of the PSOE in the Government, assures that it does not rule out the option of supporting the initiative, although it has refused to do so if the PP is the promoter of the commission. The president of the parliamentary group, Jaume Asens, has indicated that the confederal group "is not going to play along" with the PP, although he has admitted that his formation is concerned about the case.

For his part, the PDeCAT spokesman in Congress, Ferran Bel, favored the socialist parliamentary group debugging the "timely" responsibilities for the case before the Lower House set up an investigation commission, although he did not rule it out outright. In this line, he asked "first to develop" the commissions already approved in parliament and that have not yet been formalized.

The PNV spokesman, Aitor Esteban, spoke out against the commission, advocating that the case be investigated in court and not in a commission, which in his opinion would make "noise." He argued that these initiatives in the lower house cover less than what a court can do to "get to the bottom." In addition, in cases subject to judicial review, the Basque parliamentarian recalled that the "multitude of documents and evidence" leave "constrained" the ability of parliamentarians to investigate.

The PSOE spokesman in Congress, Patxi López, also alluded to the matter, who rejected a commission of inquiry into a socialist initiative because he says that Justice is already acting and is the one that must clarify what happened.
