The Government hopes that unions and CEOE reach a salary agreement and maintains its commitment to the SMI

MADRID, 23 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister for Territorial Policy and Government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, has called on trade unions and employers to reach a wage agreement in collective bargaining that will give workers peace of mind and help the economy.

In the press conference after the first Council of Ministers after the holidays, Rodríguez recalled that this is an issue that concerns exclusively the social agents, but he reiterated the wish that they be able to reach said wage agreement.

Asked about the evolution that the minimum interprofessional salary (SMI) should follow, which the UGT asked yesterday to raise from 1,000 to 1,100 euros per month, the minister reaffirmed the Government's commitment to raise this minimum income to 60% of the average salary at the end of legislature.

"In the SMI we have made an unprecedented effort that is allowing Spanish families to have better purchasing power," said Rodríguez, who recalled that this income has increased by 36% since 2019.

With regard to pensions, the spokeswoman for the Executive has once again guaranteed that the Government will comply with current law and will raise them in line with inflation.
