The Government does not count on the PP to approve the gas cap decree, but it is optimistic as it has guaranteed support

MADRID, 9 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, has assured that he does not count on the Popular Party to validate the gas cap decree this Thursday in Congress, but has indicated that they are "optimistic" in terms of that is going to be approved because they have "guaranteed" majority support.

The Plenary Session of Congress will examine the decree law approved by the Government to limit the price of gas for electricity generation for one year, a mechanism endorsed by the European Commission on Wednesday and which until now had not been applied pending this authorization.

In an interview on Antena 3, the minister assured that they do not have the support of the right wing, which, as he recalled, had already voted against the anti-crisis royal decree to mitigate the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine. "If the PP were for gasoline, it would cost 20 cents more per liter and the truck drivers would not have received direct aid," he added.

Bolaños has highlighted the relevance of the 'Iberian exception' and, specifically, the approval of the European Commission because "it has not been easy from the political point of view or from the technical point of view". "It has been a very complex negotiation and with a lot of resistance", he pointed out

He explained that it is a direct measure to fight inflation and "it is insurance for one year". "This cap means that no matter how much there are increases in the coming months, Spain is guaranteed a capped price for a year," he added, while insisting that this is the "most effective" measure to fight inflation. .

Finally, he has valued the path that Spain has opened by putting on the table of the European Commission the benefits that have fallen from heaven that "are legitimate", but "cannot be excessive", Bolaños has settled.
