The Government considers it "correct" for the King to travel to Qatar given the "unanimity of support" of the Spanish for the selection

MADRID, 22 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government considers it "correct" that King Felipe VI attend this Wednesday the first match of Spain in the World Cup in Qatar, since with this he transmits the "feeling" of the citizenship of unity around the soccer team, has sustained the minister spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez.

With his presence, he has defended, the monarch "takes charge of the feelings of the Spanish citizens who always feel united around the Spanish team."

"There are not so many elements that achieve that unanimous support and union of the population," he argued, emphasizing that therefore it seems to the Government "very correct" that Don Felipe accompany them in their first clash against Costa Rica.

For its part, he added, what the Government wishes the team is that "they have a good championship and some good results to be able to celebrate a victory."

The presence of Felipe VI in the debut match of the Spanish team in this World Cup has been criticized from Izquierda Unida for being a country with an authoritarian regime and in which Human Rights are violated.
