The Government asks Feijóo to ask "at home" about the good agreement with Morocco after meeting with the Prime Minister

MADRID, 31 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The government spokeswoman, Isabel Rodríguez, has asked the national president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to ask the president of Ceuta "at home" about the agreement reached by the Executive with Morocco, which, as she has indicated, is being "beneficial" especially for the autonomous communities and cities of southern Spain.

The spokeswoman has made these statements after Feijóo has met with the Moroccan prime minister, Aziz Ajanuch, in the framework of the Congress of the European People's Party (EPP) that is being held in Rotterdam.

At the press conference after the Council of Ministers, he stated that he respects that the leader of the opposition wants to take an interest in the situation in the neighboring country, but that they know that the Government considers foreign policy as a State policy because that is how the President, Pedro Sánchez, at the meeting that both leaders held in April.

"Therefore, I hope you have a good tour but surely if you look at home you can ask the president of Ceuta and you will see that the agreement that the Government has advanced with Morocco is being very beneficial for all of Spain and especially for the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla and Andalusia", he stated.

In addition, he has asked the leader of the PP not to take advantage of "the slightest opportunity", as in his opinion has happened today with this meeting, to go outside "to criticize Spain" and has conveyed that the 'popular' think that they harm the Government but that actually affect the country.

Likewise, he has indicated that the Executive is making a very important effort to position Spain in the European context and that they would like to have the main opposition party in this task.

Finally, government sources have added that Feijóo and the PP would do well to leave foreign policy in the hands of the Prime Minister and have also claimed that it would be good to know the party's position on Morocco and Western Sahara.
