MADRID, 23 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

On Tuesday, the Council of Ministers appointed Álvaro López Barceló as the new General Director of the Treasury and Financial Policy to replace Pablo de Ramón Laca, who joins the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on behalf of Spain as Alternate Executive Director, after his appointment last March.

Álvaro López Barceló has been Deputy General Director of Public Debt Management at the General Secretariat of the Treasury and International Financing since 2020, where one of his responsibilities has been the definition and execution of the financing strategy of the Public Treasury in the capital markets.

Graduated in Economics from the Autonomous University of Madrid, he entered the Higher Corps of Commercial Technicians and State Economists in 2007.

Álvaro López Barceló has developed his career at the European Commission in Brussels, as an outstanding national expert in the General Directorate for Economic and Financial Affairs; as economic and commercial adviser, head of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Casablanca; and as deputy director general of Strategic Analysis and International Financial System in the General Secretariat of the Treasury, responsible for the study and monitoring of national and international financial markets and the relationship with the IMF and the economic affairs of the G20.
