The Government activates the records in Renfe to acquire free train tickets with a deposit

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has activated this Monday the first phase to acquire the free season tickets for Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia Convencional from August 24 and during the entire validity of the measure, until December 31, 2022 .

Last week, the Government approved subsidizing commuter and medium-distance rail transport to recurring users to help cope with the rise in prices as a result of the war in Ukraine, and to promote public transport and reduce the use of private vehicles. .

As of this Monday, users can now register on the Renfe and Renfe Cercanías mobile applications, as well as on the company's website, to speed up the obtaining of free subscriptions from next August 24, being valid between September 1 and December 31.

In other words, once the prior registration has been made, travelers must purchase the season tickets through the apps or the website after the purchase period opens, at which time they will have to pay the deposit of 10 euros for each Cercanías nucleus and Rodalies and 20 euros for each relationship of the Conventional Medium Distance services.

Payment by card will enable the return of the deposits to be made automatically (once the validity period has ended) fulfilling the conditions, that is, making 16 trips in these four months.

The Renfe applications or apps will allow the acquisition of recurring Cercanías season tickets in a quick, simple and agile way, generating a QR code that will be downloaded to the mobile phone and that can later be used in station access control or in the vending machines and lockers to obtain the physical tickets that allow you to cross the turnstiles in the event that they do not have the QR reader installed.
