The former president of Petrobras reveals having text messages that would incriminate Bolsonaro

MADRID, 27 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former president of Petrobras Roberto Castello Branco has acknowledged in a private conversation with the former president of the Bank of Brazil Rubem Novaes that he had messages on his corporate mobile phone that could incriminate the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro.

Castello Branco and Novaes held, on the eve of a Petrobras board meeting to appoint a new leader, an exchange of text messages that were revealed this Monday by the Brazilian portal Metrópoles and later collected by the newspaper 'O Globo' .

In these messages, the former president of Petrobras stated that, with his departure from office, he handed over his corporate mobile phone to the "intact" organization, which contained messages and audios that could incriminate Bolsonaro, although he has not specified what crimes it would be.

During their conversation, Novaes accused Castello Branco of wanting to harm the president, to which the former Petrobras director assured that if he did not do so "it was not, nor is it, due to lack of opportunity" because every time there is a crisis in the within the organization, receives invitations from the media to address the case.

"Every time it produces a crisis, with losses of billions of dollars for its (Petrobras) shareholders, the media insistently invite me to give my opinion. I do not accept 90 percent of them (the invitations) and, when I speak, I try to avoid attacks," defended the former leader of the oil company.

Questioned by this information, both Novaes and Castello Branco have assured that they will not comment on it. The former governor of the Bank of Brazil has defended that the statements of one and the other are given in the context of a conversation between friends, while the former leader of Petrobras has indicated that his words were given in a private group from which someone has leaked the content .

Castello Branco was fired from Petrobras due to Bolsonaro's dissatisfaction with the company's pricing policy. The same reason led Bolsonaro to remove the former presidents of the state company Joaquim Silva e Luna and, more recently, José Mauro Ferreira Coelho.
