The first units of the new Renault Austral, which is manufactured at the French group's plant in Palencia, will reach customers in the next 15 days, after opening orders for the model on September 20 that will begin the "reconquest of segment C" .

This has been confirmed by the general director of Renault, Alpine and Mobilize in Iberia, Sébastien Guigues, at the international presentation of the model, in which he has indicated that the official campaign will begin next November.

The executive wanted to highlight that the E-Tech Full Hybrid version is exempt from paying the registration tax, both with the 160-horsepower engine and the 200-horsepower engine, since they have emissions of 102 and 104 grams of carbon dioxide. carbon (CO2) per kilometer, respectively.

According to the company, the model is the most 'made in Spain' in history, since the Valladolid factory manufactures body parts such as the bumper, and the Valladolid engine plant produces the thermal and hybrid propellants for the model and in Seville, the company assembles the gearbox.

The Renault Austral launches the second generation of the hybrid E-Tech engine developed and patented by the French firm, which has a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine and a new electric drive that works at 400 volts. Thus, as a whole and depending on the version, the Austral offers 160 or 200 horsepower.

Likewise, the model incorporates for the first time the third generation of the 4Control Advanced four-wheel steering system. The vehicle associates the four-wheel drive chassis with a multi-link rear axle that improves handling on the road, driving comfort and stability.

The new Renault model also has the latest generation Multi-Sense technology, through which the driver can choose between three different driving modes, which can be personalized. In addition, it incorporates the OpenR Link system that offers Google services.

The SUV includes a package of up to 32 driving assistance systems (ADAS), among which the latest generation Head-up Display, Active Driver Assist or automatic speed adaptation stand out.

The range of the new Austral has three levels of equipment: Equilibre, Techno and Iconic and the two upper levels can be configured with an additional finish, called Esprit Alpine, introduced for the first time in the brand that inherits the sports DNA of the Alpine brand. .

The prices of the new Austral 'made in Spain' start from 30,900 euros for the Equilibre Mild Hybrid version of 140 horses while the top of the range, the Austral Iconic Esprit Alpine E-Tech Full Hybrid of 200 horses, can be purchased from 43,600 euros. The 160 horsepower E-Tech version will arrive in the middle of next year.
