The electricity system registers a temporary deficit of 671.5 million euros in the first quarter

MADRID, 27 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The electricity system registered a temporary deficit of 671.5 million euros in the third settlement of 2022, corresponding to the accumulated between January and March of this year, as reported this Friday by the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC).

Due to the fact that the income has not been sufficient to cover all the recognized costs, the coverage ratio (the ratio between the costs that can be paid with the available income and those that should be paid with a charge to the provisional settlements) is 77 .31%.

Total revenue was 2,744.4 million euros and costs rose to 3,415.9 million, while consumer demand stood at 39,822 gigawatts per hour (GWh).

With regard to the renewable energy, cogeneration and waste system, the provisional settlement amounted to 1,353.47 million euros (before VAT or equivalent tax).

Of the accumulated total, 1,336.2 million euros are paid from the electricity sector, while 17.3 million are charged to the General State Budget, which corresponds to 50% of the specific remuneration of facilities located in non-peninsular territories , the regulator has reported.

In this sense, the amount to be paid on account to producers amounted to 567.2 million euros (before VAT or equivalent tax).

As for gas, the CNMC has explained that the settlements in the sector have been in line with the calendar for this raw material, which runs from October 2021 to September 2022.

In this sense and to make the transition to the new calendar, 2021 was a transition year with only 11 provisional settlements made until October.

Thus, in what would be the sixth provisional liquidation of the gas sector in 2022 (October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022), the total liquidable income declared by the companies amounted to 1,434 million euros.

These revenues were 9% lower than those declared in the comparable period of the previous year.

By categories, payable income was 15.6 million in system charges; 36.4 million underground storages; 854 million local networks; 261.4 million for the trunk transportation network; 251.8 million liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants.

These revenues met the recognized remuneration and other debit balances. In this way, system charges showed a surplus of 4 million euros, LNG plants a surplus of 40.9 million, local networks recorded a surplus of 81.1 million and trunk transport another 19.5 million. . In contrast, underground storage registered a deficit of 14.4 million euros.

On the other hand, the CNMC has reported that the fee owed by the companies to the Technical System Manager (GTS) in the settlement amounted to 3.2 million euros.

In addition, the national demand in the year of gas 2022 invoiced until March 31, 2022 has amounted to 182.9 terawatt hours (TWh), including the demand supplied from satellite plants (0.8 TWh).

Natural gas exports by pipeline amounted to 6.6 TWh, gas transferred from regasification plants to ships amounted to 6.9 TWh, and gas loaded into tankers rose to 4.5 TWh. In total, the output energy of the gas system in the settlement period amounted to 200.9 TWh.
