The electricity system deficit amounts to 1,051.8 million in June

MADRID, 24 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The provisional tariff deficit of the electricity system stood at 1,051.8 million euros in the sixth settlement, corresponding to the month of June, according to the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC).

Specifically, total income was 6,025.4 million euros, while costs rose to 7,077.3 million. Given that the income was not sufficient to cover all recognized costs, the coverage ratio (the ratio between the costs that can be paid with the available income and those that should be paid from the provisional settlements) was 82.52 %. For its part, consumption demand stood at 91,666 gigawatt hours (GWh).

In the period, a total of 63,815 installations were liquidated. The settlement made during the month of June is accumulated to the previous ones of the 2022 financial year, adding a total (from January 1 to June 30) of 2,759 million euros (before VAT or equivalent tax).

Of the accumulated total, 2,724 million euros are paid from the electricity sector, while 35 million euros are charged to the General State Budget (PGE) and correspond to 50% of the specific remuneration of facilities located in non-peninsular territories .

Thus, the CNMC indicated that as a result of the temporary mismatches between income and costs of the electricity system, it has been necessary to apply this coverage ratio of 82.52% to the total amount of positive accumulated settlements. The amount to be paid on account to producers amounted to 274.4 million euros (before VAT or equivalent tax).

For the payment of the part corresponding to the facilities located in non-peninsular territories, at the closing date of this liquidation, revenues were received from the Public Treasury that allow 100% of this item to be paid, with the amount to be paid being six million euros. .

With regard to the gas sector, the total payable income declared in the ninth settlement -which covers the period from October 2021 to June 2022- amounted to 2,144 million euros. This taxable income was 6.5% lower than that declared in the comparable period of the previous year.

In the 2022 financial year, the liquidations of the gas sector have been adjusted to the gas calendar -October 2021 to September 2022-. In addition, independent settlement procedures are used for revenues from trunk transportation, local networks, underground storage, LNG plants and system charges. To make the transition to the new calendar, the year 2021 was a year with only eleven provisional settlements.

The national demand for gas in the gas year billed up to June 30 amounted to 262.1 terawatt hours (TWh), including the demand supplied from satellite plants (1.1 TWh).

Additionally, exports of natural gas by pipeline were 21.4 TWh, the gas transferred from the regasification plants to ships was 10.5 TWh and the gas loaded in tankers was 6.3 TWh. In total, the output energy of the gas system in the settlement period amounted to 300.3 TWh.
