The ECB will delay from July the time to announce its monetary policy decisions

The European Central Bank has decided to delay from its meeting on July 21 the time at which it publicly reports its decisions on monetary policy, as well as the subsequent press conference in which the president of the entity, Christine Lagarde, and the vice president, Luis de Guindos, explain the measures adopted.

In this way, from next July 21, the monetary policy decisions of the Governing Council of the ECB will be published at 2:15 p.m. (Central European Time), instead of 1:45 p.m., while the press conferences will begin at 2:45 p.m. instead of 2:30 p.m.

In this way, the publication of related documents, such as the monetary policy statement, will change accordingly at 3:00 p.m.

From the central bank, a spokesperson explained to Europa Press that the modification of the schedules is due to "minor logistical issues", stressing that the format of the press conference, as well as the press release and all related documents are not they seem affected.

On the other hand, the entity has confirmed that the ECB's monetary policy meeting schedule remains unchanged.

At its meeting on June 9, the ECB Governing Council agreed that a 25 basis point rise in eurozone interest rates would be undertaken at the conclave on July 21, the first rise since 2011.
