The Congress summons international experts to hold a symposium on Decorative Arts in March

The Congress of Deputies is already preparing to host an International Congress on Decorative Arts in Parliamentary Institutions next March, which will bring together specialists from the legislatures of Belgium, Estonia, Great Britain, Israel and the Czech Republic, as well as the Senate, the General Board of the Principality of Asturias, the parliaments of Catalonia and Navarra and the Valencian Courts.

The meeting, in whose organization the National Museum of Decorative Arts also participates, is aimed at university students, decorative arts researchers, art historians, conservators, restorers, cultural managers and professionals in Information Sciences and museums. Interested parties may register until February 12.

The symposium, set for March 1 and 2, will address different thematic axes in a transversal way to try to reconstruct the history of these works in parliamentary use, going through the analysis of furniture and objects such as clocks, artistic bindings or textile pieces .

In addition, an approximation will be made to other issues such as the renovation in the decoration of rooms according to the tastes of each period or the use of photography as a source for the study of decorative arts, according to the information published on the Congress website. .

According to the still provisional program of the event, experts such as the head of the Information and Dissemination Service of Archival Collections of the Congress of Deputies, Sandra Rodríguez Bermejo, the doctor in Art History from the Complutense University (UCM) Antonio Sama García or the professor of the Department of Painting and Conservation-Restoration of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UCM Cristina Picasso de Castro.
