The Chinese Envision leads a consortium of 1,000 million that will promote a gigafactory in Extremadura

MERIDA, June 3 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Chinese group Envision leads a consortium that will mobilize 1,000 million euros to develop an integrated battery ecosystem and promote electric mobility in Spain, which includes the construction of a gigafactory in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres) to create 3,000 jobs from 2025.

Thus, the VENERGY project brings together pioneering partners in the areas of batteries, clean energy and digital solutions, including Acciona, to support the production of electric vehicles from the beginning to the end of the process.

The first phase of the battery project will have an initial capacity of 10GWh to reach a final capacity of 30GWh. It will be powered by renewable energies supplied by Acciona's 'in situ' photovoltaic plant.

In this way, it contributes to the acceleration of decarbonization and industrial renewal in Spain, the second largest European producer of vehicles, as reported by the Envision group.

With this, the Envision group, a company dedicated to green technology, and the Acciona group announce a "new" and "important" collaboration while the country prepares to be "all electric".

Envision has explained that it has held negotiations with the Government of Spain for several months and appreciates the support that they and the Junta de Extremadura have given to this project. Together they will work to position Spain as a European leader in the manufacture of zero-emission batteries for electric vehicles.

Specifically, the VENERGY project is based on the development and manufacture of batteries from a zero-emissions plant, integrated into different electrical platforms, including a system of removable batteries and adapted for other innovative mobility models. These include heavy-duty vans and trucks, a new electric vehicle for last-mile deliveries, three innovative modular electric vehicles, and a two-wheeled light electric vehicle.

In addition, the VENERGY project has been submitted to the electric vehicle value chain program of the Perte VEC (Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of the Electric and Connected Vehicle). The consortium includes 12 companies from 10 Spanish autonomous communities, which mobilize an investment of 1,000 million euros. The project will create 3,000 new high value-added green jobs when fully operational in 2025.

At the same time, the state-of-the-art gigafactory that Envision AESC plans to open in Navalmoral de la Mata will supply high-performance cells, modules and battery packs with greater autonomy and energy density. The facility will be powered by 100% green energy supplied by local sources.

Similarly, the Perte VEC will contribute, if it is finally awarded to Envision, to the financing of the gigafactory, which will include "the latest battery cell technology" and offer "optimal" energy density, with greater autonomy, durability and efficiency. ".

The growth in demand could mean an increase in investment and a capacity of up to 30GWh in the gigafactory by 2030.

This commitment is part of a "long-lasting strategic" collaboration with the Spanish Government to produce the next generation of electric vehicles and support the supply of parts and components for vehicles with advanced technology from local commerce.

Thus, the president of the Envision group, Spain, José Domínguez Abascal, has stated that Envision is "very grateful" to the Government of Spain and the Junta de Extremadura for the level of support they have shown to reach this "important point". "We applaud this long-standing strategic partnership and our shared ambition and cooperation, which will endure as we develop this project and others together," he said.

VENERGY represents a vision shared by companies, national and regional governments and local communities to "accelerate" the world's transition to carbon-neutral transportation.

"Our planned new gigafactory and supporting ecosystem will drive further investment in local supply chain and full life cycle opportunities for batteries, renewable energy systems and digital solutions. We are connecting traditional businesses with SMEs and startups, each of which makes a unique contribution to the decarbonisation, growth and renewal of Spain and generates thousands of high-value green jobs for the future", he explained.

In this way, VENERGY has 12 partners and 16 primary projects that cover 10 Spanish autonomous communities. The consortium partners include the Envision Group, the Acciona Group (Acciona Generación Renovables and Acciona Silence), Teknia Ampuero, the Galician Automotive Technology Center (CTAG), Aresar, Liux, Qalma, Glavista, Cable Energía and Kapture.

The project will be developed in the autonomous communities of the Basque Country, Castile-La Mancha, the Valencian Community, Catalonia, Extremadura, Cantabria, the Community of Madrid, Navarra, Galicia and Andalusia.

Envision designs, markets and operates smart wind turbines through Envision Energy, AIoT-powered batteries through Envision AESC, and the world's largest AIoT operating system through Envision Digital.

She also owns the Envision Racing Formula E Team. Envision continues to promote wind and solar energy as the "new coal", batteries and hydrogen fuels as the "new oil", and the AIoT network as the "new network" to create a zero-carbon world.

Envision AESC is a leading global battery technology company committed to the research, development, design, manufacture and marketing of high-power batteries and energy storage batteries.

Envision AESC has 10 production facilities in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, China and France. Over the past 12 years, Envision AESC has manufactured high-performance, extended-range batteries for more than 650,000 electric vehicles in 44 countries, achieving a "zero critical battery failure" record.

The new Envision AESC gigafactory in Spain adds to the confirmation of its plans to build gigafactories in the United States, France, Japan and the United Kingdom. Envision aims to have a global capacity of more than 300GWh by 2030, powered by net zero energy.
